Future of the Left - Polymers are Forever EP

Future of the Left have had returned. After the rather shock news that angry singer/bassman Kelson Mathias had left the raging power-trio, the band have taken a bit of time to take stock and get their house in order. The culmination? A change of record label, and 6 track EP to boot… an album entitled the plot against common sense to follow in 2012.

Excited? Good.

The Polymers are Forever EP is due out on the 14th November via Xtra Mile Recordings. The tracklisting is as follows:

polymers are forever’
‘with apologies to emily pankhurst’
‘new adventures’
‘my wife is unhappy’
‘dry hate’
destroywhitchurch.com’ - (check the URL. It throws up more questions than it answers)

Fans of the raging insanity that comes along with Future of the Left will be pleased to hear that this EP hasn’t been watered down as the result of the change in lineup, although it will be interesting to see just how it has an effect on the live dynamic.

Tracks like Polymers Are Forever are synth-filled, dirty-guitar tirades that wouldn’t be out of place on either of the previous two full-length releases, whilst destroywhitchurch.com is a rambling, story-telling affair that we’ve come to expect from time-to-time from Falco… New Adventures starts off with some vocal barking that in an odd way sounds like something out of Sesame Street. Ahem.

The point is, this is definitely something to get your hands on if you like interesting, scuzzy rock music.

Pitchfork have a stream of the title track over here.

There’s a few tour dates, but they are restricted to England and Wales at present. Get down if you’re around:
